My photography
basically
started
as a hobby
when I
was a kid
and I followed
in the
footsteps
of my father
who was
a keen
amateur
photographer
specialising
in wildlife
and landscapes.
I have
always
been a
keen fisherman
and started
fishing
around
the ocean
beaches
and rocks
catching
and photographing
bream,
whiting,
tailer,
and blackfish
etc. until
one day
I saw a
guy catch
a 20-pound
southern
bluefin
tuna off
the rocks
at Kurnell,
on the
southern
headland
of Sydney
's Botany
Bay .
This tuna
was the
first gamefish
I ever
photographed
and the
excitement
and spectacle
of the
capture
encouraged
me on a
course
of land-based
gamefishing.
Back then
in the
early 70's
this style
of fishing
had only
just started
to become
popular
and my
first few
photos
and articles
published
on land
based game
appeared
in Modern
Fishing
and Fishing
World magazines
over 3
decades
ago.
Since
the rock
fishing
days my
gamefishing
career
has gone
from bouncing
around
in small
boats,
often too
far offshore,
to the
larger
vessels
I mostly
fish aboard
to-day.
I've tried
to take
photos
of everything
I've ever
caught
or seen
get caught
and the
urge to
broaden
my photo
library
has taken
me to many
fabulous
places
around
the world.
There are
still many
new destinations
to explore
and the
quest to
shoot these
beautiful
acrobatic
marlin
will continue
for some
time to
come.
I sure
hope you
enjoy them!
